Freshers 2011
Hi guys,
So I’m sure loads of you are wondering just how you would go about getting involved with BUBC this year, whether you’re a new fresher looking to join rowing for the first time, someone who has rowed throughout their life, or maybe you’ve heard of us during your time at BU or AUCB. Well now is that perfect time to get involved in BU’s best-loved society.
Over the next few weeks there will be plenty of opportunities to meet us and find out more, along with trying out rowing and our training program for yourself to see just what you’re missing at the moment.
Your first chance to see us will be at the Freshers Fair on October 1st where you’ll be able to find us in the Refectory and also in the SportsBU tent out back where you can have a quick go on a rowing machine, with the fastest students winning a prize. If you have any questions you can come along and ask any of our members just what it takes to be a member of BUBC.
After that we then have our Taster Sessions running from October 8th for the next 3 weekends, where you can come along and try out rowing in a boat, and see just what it feels like to be cruising along a river under your own steam.
And finally, your other chance to catch us will be our Freshers Meeting on October 5th at 6:30pm in the Shelley LT in Poole House (to the left as you come into reception from the bus stops) where we will explain the layout for the year, exactly what training will entail, what racing is like, introduce you to our excellent coaches, show you training camp and then afterwards we’ll be going out for the first of the year’s socials, which is one not to be missed!
For all the updates on Facebook join our Fresher Group or like our BUBC Page.
If you’d like to know anything else, sign up to a taster session or just get to know us a bit better don’t hesitate to email us at rowing@bubc.co.uk. We’ll see you all at Freshers Fair!
